This message that I hoped that we would not have to send.
We are sorry to say that we have had to cancel the Valentine Meet (15/16th January 2022). The Leisure Centre do not want us to go ahead with the Meet. In addition, there is no guidance from Swim Wales or the Welsh Government on what the 30 persons indoors constitutes in Swim Meets. Regardless of the interpretation, we would be unable to run the Meet with less than 30 non-swimmers from a both the Meet Licence perspective and a safety Perspective. Also as the number of cases appearing is so high we have to be mindful that we need lots of volunteers and officials and we could be in a position of being short due to infections so could compromise our licence. This is without potentially losing a lot of swimmers!
We are truly upset about this as the impact on our club is going to be devastating. We ran the Holywell Comeback Meet in October 2021 very successfully and had strict COVID protocols in place which we would added to for this Meet.
We are going to look, this coming week, at what options we have to replace this meet but the easiest way forward is to cancel and we will start to refund of all the fees paid in the coming two weeks. I will contact those who have paid for bank details for the refund.
