Recent Gala Updates.

Below is a list of the last several galas Holywell have competed at venues include Wrexham, Swansea, Holywell Llandudno.

Wrexham Cath Ankers 12th June 2022

A Small team of 12 swimmers travelled to Water World in Wrexham to compete in the Wrexham Cath Anker’s meet, great to see some of the younger swimmers do so well, as coaches they made us very proud to watch how technically good the are under pressure, they came away with 28 medals, 12 Gold, 5 Silver, 5 Bronze, 1 Forth, 3 Fifth, and 1 Sixth and 20 personal best time.

Swim Wales Summer Nationals – 3rd-4th-5th-6th-7th of August 2022

This meet is of the top meets in Wales, some super competition as the Welsh Summer nationals is opens up to the rest of Britain, 9 Swimmers travelled to Swansea for 5 days of intense racing, to put this meet into perspetive there was 116 teams from across the UK, the male 50m freestyle event had 142 entries alone, and 144 for the women. Making finals in this meet is an achievement in itself,

THE TEAM :- Tomas Clarke, Sian Evans, Poppy Johnson, Milly Jones, Jay Jones, Jean-Luc Lovell-Pascal, Luca Owen, Elinor Rich, Georgia Wade-Jones.

The team swam very well hitting 27 long course PBs between them, Tomas Clarke swam very well in his Backstroke events making 3 finals in the 50m -100m & 200m, coming in a well deserved 5th in the 100m Back and a 4th in the 50m Back final as Tomas was suffering with growing pains in his knees we decided to let the first reserve swim the 200m final – Georgia Wade-Jones made and impressive 4 finals, coming 4th in the finals of both the 100m & 200m Backstroke, and 5th in the 50 Fly, her last race was the 50m Backstroke, fired up for the final Georgia came away as a National medal winner by taking Bronze in the final. Jean-Luc Lovell-Pascal could not swim his No1 races as Jean-Luc had swam the 50m – 100m and 200m Breaststroke at the British Championships in Sheffield a few months earlier which omitted him from entering this meet, however, Jean-Luc still managed 2 Finals in the 200IM, the 100m Fly and won a Bronze in the 400 IM 17 and over age group, Sian Evans made 2 finals in the 50m Free, Sian came 3th in the final but was DQd due to a very slight twitch on the block, Sian later went on the make the 50m Backstroke final coming 7th. Milly Jones was swimming well in her Backstroke events hitting PBs in her 100m & 200m events, she then squeezed into the 50 Backstroke in 8th place, and after a very good start and a gutsy swim, Milly took 5th place in the final.

Round One of the Arena League – 8th October 2022

The Team Traveled to Wigan on the 8th of October to Compete against 7 other teams in Round 1 of the North West Arena League. Our swimmers shown great character, team spirit and support to come and impressive 2nd on the day.

Swim Conwy Autumn Meet 15th & 16th October

16 teams attended the Conwy Autumn meet in Llandudno, Holywell took 25 swimmers and our swimmers did not disappoint, fantastic technique and great race strategy gave us some amazing swims, all their hard work in training definitely paid off. 91 PBs and a total of 71 top 3 placings, 31 Gold, 21 Silver and 19 Bronze

Holywell Halloween Geoff Drew Meet. 29th October 2022

Holywell welcomed 15 teams to our Geoff Drew meet on the 29th October 2022 and as usual we had a great day, fantastic support from all the clubs involved singing and dancing in the intervals, the swimmers looked like they had a blast. A great atmosphere turned into great swimming.

In Total Holywell swimmers won a total of 84 top 3 Medals :- 38 Gold – 30 Silver – 16 Bronze and (97 Personal Best times).

Round 2 of the Arena League – 12th November 2022

The Team again travelled to Wigan for round 2 on the 12th of November to compete against 7 other teams in the North West Arena League. Brilliant support saw the team come 3rd this time , good enough to make the final on December 10th. Fantastic job, well done team.
