The Northampton meet was well worth competing at for our swimmers. Well Done to George, Ella, Kirsha and Liv, some great swims gave them numerous PBs in an extremely competitive meet, Great Britain’s Hannah (Smiley) Miley, the 2008 & 2012 Olympian, Hannah won medals at the British, European, Commonwealth and World championships breaking records along the way, this weekend she competed in 11 events. Hannah still took the time out to sign our swimmers shirts and swim caps. Hannah also gave our swimmers some great advice in how to prepare before they race, self talk – think! (Long and Strong) and (Build in speed), this definitely inspired our swimmers.
Some of the stand out swims of the weekend, Liv stormed her way to, 2 Gold 100m & 200m Brs, 3 Silver 100Bk, 200 & 400IM and 1 Bronze in 200Bk, her time of 1:21.86 in the 100m Brs puts her No2 in Britain, and a 1:14.83 in the 100m Bk puts her 5th in Britain. Ella took bronze in the 100m Brs in 1:23.60. Kirsha and Ella had great swims, in 50m FC, Ella swam 30.37 and Kirsha 30.94, and in the 100FC both went 1:06. On the back of a week off through illness, George had some great swims a Pb in 27.46 for 50m FC and close to his PB in 2:11.90 for his 200m FC.
The swimmers will take a lot from the weekend, competing against some of the best in Britain and watching how they stretch, prepare and race is priceless.
