Holywell Juniors Show Their Talent in the M56 Junior Arena League Final

On Saturday the 21st September the team travelled to the Grand Central Pool in Stockport for the Final of the M56 Junior Arena League. The team swam amazingly well in the preliminary round earlier in the year and the support for the team and the swimmers throughout has been fantastic, During the Final the scores were read out at the quarter mark with Holywell sitting in 3rd place, a few points behind Horwich Swimming club who started the Final very strong, at the halfway stage Holywell was in joint second place. Some amazing swims in the final few races saw the team push on. The final race was the 8 X 25m Cannon Relay, Holywell was chasing the pack early on but some solid swims saw the team pull through and take the win in the Cannon, Holywell ended the competition in a well deserved 2nd place behind a very strong Stockport Metro.

There were too many good swims to name them all, but 2 races really stood out, Tomas Clarkes Individual Backstroke and Francesca Owen-Hatfields relay leg in the final Cannon Relay. Newbies Fraya Hall, Eden Storm and Matilda Isaac along with Ellen Davies in the girl’s 9-year-old age group, and Thomas Kitchen and Finley Hewitt for the boy’s 9-year-old age group did brilliantly in helping the team achieve their well earned 2nd place.

We have some amazing talent coming through at Holywell and the future is looking very bright for us. The team looked fantastic in the new Arena Kit and it was commented on by some parents, It was lovely to hear lots of other comments from officials and the parents from the other clubs i.e. “It’s great how your swimmers support each other” ” You have some really good swimmers at Holywell” ” The Holywell team are so well behaved” “
