Holywell ASC v Coronavirus (COVID-19) Stay at home if you have the symptoms

As a club, we are doing what we can to safeguard our swimmers, we are currently following the advice from the Government and the experts, so far there is NO advice on coronavirus on the British Swimming website. There is a statement from Swim Wales, Advice the NHS and information from the government’s web site and as we participate in England some advice from Swim England.

Our advice to our swimmers/parents: follow the NHS guidelines below, if you have any symptoms such as:

  • a high temperature – you feel hot to touch on your chest or back
  • a new, continuous cough – this means you’ve started coughing repeatedly

Self-isolate for 7 days, ( Click on the link self-isolation staying at home. https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/self-isolation-advice/ ) do not go to a GP surgery, pharmacy or hospital. You do not need to contact 111 to tell them you’re staying at home. Testing for coronavirus is not needed if you’re staying at home. If you self-isolate and start to feel worse and feel you cannot cope call 111.

Swim Wales Statment

You will be aware via the media that the number of confirmed cases of Coronavirus (“COVID-19”) across the world, and more locally within the United Kingdom, is growing.

At this moment in time we have received no recommendation for postponing or cancelling any upcoming Championships; however, we are monitoring the situation and will follow advice and guidance from all relevant government agencies, including Public Health Wales.

The health and wellbeing of our members is of paramount importance and we will act accordingly to minimise any risks posed by COVID-19. Key to efforts to contain COVID-19 is good hygiene practice and we urge everyone to follow the guidance from Public Health Wales

  • Always carry tissues with you and use them to catch your cough or sneeze
  • Bin the tissue
  • To kill germs, wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water, or use a sanitiser gel

Further health advice, including what you should do in the event of developing symptoms and self-isolation, is available on the Public Health Wales website.

As always, should a Club member feel unwell, they should not take part in any aquatic activity and should seek appropriate medical advice where necessary.

If you have medical concerns relating to COVID-19, please contact – by telephone – your local doctors’ practice or NHS Direct Wales on 111 or 0845 46 47. Do not attend in person, if you feel you may have symptoms.

Travel guidance relating to specific countries and regions around the world which have been impacted by COVID-19 is also available on the Public Health Wales website.  This includes health advice for those returning from those areas. Please also make use of the UK Government Foreign and Commonwealth Office website for wider travel advice specific to each country.
