Big thank you to Geoff Boddie and Merseyside police for inviting us to the Police Constabulary’s annual Police swimming gala, the event took place on Sunday 22nd April at the Liverpool Aquatic Centre.
We had a great time, lots of shouting and cheering for everyone, 14 swimmers from Holywell and 14 swimmers from Holylake all in the 12 and under age group. The 50m Pool was split into 2 x 25m pools, one for warm up and swim down and one for racing. The Police constabulary’s from around the area who were holding their annual constabulary competition took time out part way through their gala to team up with the Holywell and Hoylake swimmers, each team consisted of 2 swimmers and 2 police officers to make 14 relay teams. all the swimmers did fantastic, the crowd cheered the exciting fast and furious relays. Well done to Tomas Clarke and Daniel Harvey winning their heat, high fives all round with their cop compardre’s.

The 2 teams of Holywell and Hoylake the went head to head in a 14 swimmer cannon relay, 14 x 25m, An exciting race finished with Holywell being the winners of the cannon, the two teams did fantastic, the parents, the spectators, and the police from all the competing regions cheers the teams home.
In a medal ceremony afterwards the swimmers received Medals, Water Bottles, a pen and sweets.. It was a great day for the swimmers and i hope we get another invite next time.
