Great Team Effort at the Sub Regionals.

Great Team Effort from Holywell ASC 

Sub Regionals 2017,  24th- 25th- 26th  November

Holywell took a small team of just 16 to the sub regionals this year. The meet was a very busy one and well supported from all the clubs in the region. The weekend started fantastically well on the Friday evening session with Sadie Lee winning the 800m freestyle Gold, followed up with Ethan Cameron and Jean-Luc Lovell-Pascal both also winning Gold in the 1500m Freestyle in their age groups,  Saturday and Sunday were also exciting days with some amazing swims and great times with the team totalling  9 gold, 10 Silver and 9 Bronze medals. The swimmers also amassed an impressive 58 pbs between them.

Some of of the outstanding swims from the weekend. Sadie Lee’s 800m freestyle with a PB of 31.18 seconds and the fastest in the open age group, Ethan Cameron first time 1500m swim breaking the 20 minute mark and Jean-Luc-Lovell-Pascal 1500m PB of 47.16 seconds 3 races 3 Gold medals . Ffion Austin had a great swim winning Gold in the 100m Fly, breaking the meet record along the way that was held by our own Anna Leitner ( Anna had to pull out of the meet due to illness, so i am looking forward to a great race between Ffion and Anna next year). Jac Armstrong swimming the 200m fly for the first time. Tom Williams joined the sub 60 list swimming 59.38, in the 100m freestyle taking almost a second off his entry time, (well done Tom, big achievement). Jean-Luc won gold and broke the 200m breaststroke record. Both Lotty Woolley and Jean-Luc had amazing swims both braking records over the weekend only to have their times beaten in the following heats. Scott Woolley broke the 27 seconds barrier in the 50m freestyle going 26.99 a time he had targeted over the past few meets. Katie Evans had a guttsy swim in the 400m freestyle winning gold with an 11.4 seconds PB in the final event of the weekend.

Well done to all the other swimmers who swam amazingly well all weekend. Great job team.

Overall the team did a wonderful job supporting and cheering each other on.Next year i hope we have more entry’s especially from our newer younger swimmers as this is a no time needed gala.
